> F/a Questions About Getting Started In Hare Scrambles
Posted by Mike Soudas - 02-12-08 22:38 - 0 comments
1. How much does it cost to race the ECEA Hare Scrambles?
Yearly Application Fee for a Rider Number is $20, $21 (if done online)
DOWNLOAD FORMS here
Day Rider's with another series Transponder will be charged $5 for reflashing.
Day Rider's without a Transponder can rent one for $30 with a $20 refund when returned that day.
Race Fee's vary by club. Expect $35-40 for Adult, $20-$30 for youth/PeeWee, Gate Fees and/or Camping can be $5-$10
AMA Sign Up $39. Local District Series Memberships are available (fee's Vary).

2. Can I sign up for a Rider's Number online?
You can for Yearly Series Number, Day riders must go to event sign up.
ADULT ONLINE APPLICATION YOUTH ONLINE APPLICATION

3. Can I use another series Transponder?
Yes and No
If you have the Black Cylinder Style Transponder then you have a chance it will work. It must be the programmable style (Read/White). Double check at sign up. GNCC and some MX Series Transponders will not work.

4. Is there a charge to re program the transponder?
There is a $5 fee for a non ECEA HS Series rider. If you have paid for the yearly number then there is no charge.
The $5 fee is for anyone who has not paid the $20 for an ECEA Harescramble membership.

5. How long will the transponder last ?
With proper care it should last for years. It is not indestructible but durable.

6. What Happens if I loose my transponder?
If it is lost during the race, yell your number to the backup person or scorekeeper at the scoring lanes. With the proper number identification on the bike it should be easy for the back up person to get your number and enter your position in the event.
You will then be responsible to purchase another unit from scoring. Replacement Transponders are $15

7. What is Tech Inspection all about ?
Each Club will conduct a Tech Inspection.
Tech will have a Transponder reader/display so the rider can check their transponder read- Their race Number is displayed.
A Sound check is to be done by the club per AMA/ECEA rules.
Rider/Bike Number Identification (Number Plates) will be strictly enforced.
The Rider is responsible for being scored.
Proper placement of the Transponder is the riders responsibility.
The Rider must have the proper number plates and background color on the bike. In the event that the rider cannot be identified from the bike's numbers, the rider may loose the lap or face a DSQ.

8. How do you mount the Transponder?
the best place to mount the transponder is to your chest protector with tyraps (tyrap in a cross pattern and finish with racer tape)
You can mount the transponder to the front fender or behind the number plate.
the Transponder must NOT touch any metal on the machine.
It must be mounted Horizontal.

9. Do I have to stop when going through the scoring lanes?
No, But you must SLOW DOWN- Slow Way Down..
Crashing into the Antenna or another rider at scoring is grounds for a DSQ, no exceptions. Race on the track not in the scoring lanes.
There will be two lanes and 2 displays.
The Displays will show your rider number and your place on one line then display a secound line (1sec delay) with your seconds behind.
Details on which lane the rider will take is going to be announced at the event.

10. When Can I sign up for the Event, Is there Online Pre Entry?
Currenty there is no Online Pre Entry but their are plans for the future.
You can sign up at the event. Sign up will be open for rider registration in the order of race day events starting with the PeeWee riders registering first, then Youth, then the Main event.
Registration will close 30 minutes before the start of the event.

11. I am 16 and ride in the Adult classes, which application do I use for a rider number ?
The OnLine and Down Load Applications specify 18 years old for the application.
The best way to do this is fill out the Adult Application either online or by download. You should then download the Minor release form here: MINOR FORM and the Sportsmen Pledge here: PLEDGE then mail those in or drop them off at scoring/sign up (Lisa) .

12. What if I Loose my AMA Card or forget it at home?
If you do not have an AMA Card present at the event You Will Be Responsible to Purchase Another Membership before you can sign up for the event. NO EXCEPTIONS. The AMA will send you an new card and tack on another year to your existing membership.

13. Can my son ride the youth class in the am and then ride the Main ?
Yes, as long as the rider meets the current rules.
The rider will need to register for the Adult series and purchase another number for the class he wishes to ride. Another transponder will be issued or the rider can have his youth Transponder re-Flashed.

Hey: Here's the Resets and Speed Changes as well as the Rider Numbers for our Enduro.

Resets and Speed Changes

Rider Numbers

This is the first time I did the rider list, drawing, etc, the guys who used to do it weren't available, dry.gif any issues,
let me know. Some entrys didn't have payments, classes etc, we did the best we could. Also they will going out in the mail
today, I hope. Please, if you have any buddys or club members who are "internet challenged", please get them this info.

Also, the Hedger House was supposed to be sold and have new owners, however the deal was postponed. We will still start
from there, but it will be a little primative. We are working on some kind of food to be available, I'll let you know.
The WoodShed on RT 72 has a new owner and great food too.

The parking will be a little tight, so please park efficiently, also there is parking at the Chatsworth Fire House, which is also the gas stop,
about 2 miles down the road.

A few more more things, please keep the pit riding to a minimum, under 5 MPH and please be "QUIET" in parking lot after 10 PM
and in the morning, especially going past the houses right after the Start and on Sooy Rd. There's a reset right down the road so don't worry.
No fires in the Parking lot either. The place is closed, but being sold, we don't want to jeopadize it. We almost weren't able to start
from the Hedger House, but I promised the Owner we would behave ourselfves. So please respect his wishes. It's not easy to
sell a Biker Bar in the Pine Barrens laugh.gif

The enduro is creeping up on us. Due to it being a national this year we have an ealier drawing date The entry is availabe at www.sorrmc.org. We're cutting some new trail and finding some not used for a while old trail to have a primo event. Get your entries in early and often. We expect temp's in the low 80's wink.gif , humidity in the 70's unsure.gif and extreme vista's for all to enjoy during the ride rolleyes.gif . A regular tropical paradise sure to make any Buffet fan long for a boat drink laugh.gif This will be a start control event as per NEPG rules with transponders available for sale or rent for the day. Closed course, no tags or registration needed although you will need to be 16 to ride. Those under 16 can ride the Jr enduro on Saturday so plan a weekend with the kids. More to follow...

Well it looks like it's all coming together. The 2008 "Clock Run" Enduro will start from the Hedger House, in Chatsworth NJ, on Rt 563, May 18th. The Hedger House has changed owners, or is in the process of changing, so it may not be open for our event. I'll know more early this week. At least there woun't be any Harley guys at the finish. Not that's there's any thing wrong with that. biggrin.gif

We will still start from there, with over flow parking at the Chatsworth Fire House, about 2 miles down the road (Rt 563).

The course will be a tight Coyle Field 1st half and a fun, fast second half. Each Half will have Gas Availbale and the layover will be at the Chatsworth Fire House. A Gas Truck will be available at the Start and will leave around 8:30AM. We will post maps for the support crews soon.

We will also post the rider numbers, resets and speed changes early in the week here. The rider confirmations may not go out in the mail till Wed.

Anyway, be prepared for a "Real Enduro". We are a small club, but have been working hard to have a quality event.

Stay tuned for more info.

Jack
